Torneo Internacional BMW de Polo kicks off at Santa María Polo Club

HB, Ayala, Lechuza Caracas the first-day winners in Copa de Plata

Three matches, with some of the world’s leading players on the field, marked the start of the 2012 Torneo Internacional BMW de Polo at Spain's Santa María Polo Club.

The high-handicap teams opened the event, in the shape of the first matches corresponding to the Copa de Plata.

In the day's first match, HB Polo Team (with Ignacio Toccalino and Alejandro Muzzio) defeated Dos Lunas Hublot (Diego Cavanagh) 14-12. Later on, Ayala (with Lucas James and Ignatius Du Plessis) defeated reigning champions Las Monjitas (Eduardo and Alejandro Novillo Astrada) 10-6. At the same time of the second match, Lechuza Caracas (Juan Martín Nero and Alejo Taranco) defeated Kaptive Leones (Agustín Merlos), 15-10.

Next on the Copa de Plata schedule are three matches on Monday 30th: Scapa vs. Kaptive Leones, Dos Lunas Hublot vs. Las Monjitas and HB Polo Team vs. Lechuza Caracas.

The medium-handicap Copa de Bronce is due to start this Sunday, with the following fixtures announced: Bayswater London Gin vs. Sapphire/Esp and Woodchester Los Dragones vs. Seven Sevens.
