Fifth edition of Copa de Polo Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 gets going
The Copa de Polo Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 is undoubtedly one of the country's leading tournaments, and this year's fifth edition got off to a start on Wednesday, November 2nd at La Ensenada de Luján, near Buenos Aires. Twelve high-handicap teams are competing for the title, with pros and amateurs in their line-ups.
The event's final is scheduled for November 12th, after which, that same day, there will be an exhibition match between Boca Juniors Polo Team and Resto del Mundo (Rest of the World). For the fourth successive year, all the raisedfunds will go to the Asociación Sueños y Esperanzas.
Gabriel Batistuta, the soccer star that at one time of his career played for Boca Juniors, will captain the similarly-named polo team, and Adolfo Cambiaso, Jr., will be part of the line-up. The team's two remaining players are to be Fernando Pigni and Ernesto Gutiérrez, president of AA2000 and the events host.
As from 2 p.m. at La Ensenada, which is located in an ecological reservoir consisting of 120 hectares, polo fans will be welcomed and they will be able to enjoy all the site's facilities: three polo fields, one practice field and stables for 34 horses.
Among those who have confirmed that they will be attending this mega event are celebrities such as Mariana Arias, Flavia Palmiero, Luli Salazar, Ricky Sarkany and Marcela Tinayre. Valeria Mazza will be accompanying her husband Alejandro Gravier, who will be playing for one of the teams.
There will be a cocktail and a party which is usually one of the most fun-filled ones in this environment. Players, members of the press, guests and other spectators will take part in this day of polo and of solidarity.
The Copa Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 was created by Ernesto Gutiérrez, who had three concepts in mind when doing so: family, sports, and solidarity. During several days, a variety of celebrities from the polo scene, and from the corporative and show sectors will get together so as to enjoy this sport and collaborate with charity entities.
All the collected funds will go to the Asociación Sueños y Esperanzas, an institution that since 2001 assists the victims of family violence and social subordination, using the information, training programmes and with the assistance of professional teams.
